When you want a truly productive day, skip the 'Bucks.
Ironic, I know.
Because we're all engrained to believe that coffee, sugar and other stimulants will WAKE us up.
Well, they do, short-term anyway, we get that little buzz and we 'feel' a bit more awake.....but with a health-expensive toll on our poor body.
Take the healthy route that won't spike your blood sugar like crazy!
You'll have that same ritual that you crave.
Morning. Warm + smooth drink.
Without the high amount of sugar and no artificial ingredients.
Without the stress.
It's a win-win.
You won't get cranky after the blood sugar crash of that whipped-topping-sugar-filled-milk ingredients-double caramel "coffee" drink. You won't feel hyper and then tired shortly after drinking it. You won't be adding unnecessary frustration to your body (in the form of sugar, chemicals) and unloading on your poor liver.
See? Win-win. For your mind, for your body.
But MAKING my own warm drink in the morning? What if you're a Drive-Thru person??
You'd think "it's gonna be a long, long time" to make this.
But it really doesn't take a lot of time - just about the same amount as it would take for you to heat up water for tea, or drive through for your coffee, do it at home and do yourself a favour!
This is a "hip" hot chocolate because this is made the old school way. Before we had packages of powdered 'hot chocolate' to go, we had real hot chocolate, hand crafted and steamy.
Let's whip it up!
1 cup coconut milk, hemp or almond milk, or water
2-3 tbsp bitter chocolate - 70 % cocoa
pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
pinch of ground nutmeg
pinch of cinnamon
In medium saucepan on medium high heat, combine ingredients except chocolate.
Bring milk almost to boil, then remove from heat and add chocolate, stirring briskly till melts.
At this point it will darken. Stir, stir, stir.
Pour into a cozy mug and ENJOY!
